The Window Classics Story
Pre-hung doors were a novelty back in
1958 when Al DeSauntis moved to sunny South Florida from
Massachusetts to start Jiffy Door Company. Starting in a
single warehouse bay just off Dixie Highway in Hallandale,
Al was the first “pre-hanger” in Broward County and one of
the first in all of Florida.
Today’s Window Classics is the
continuation of that original company, which has steadily
evolved over the years through various mergers and
acquisitions. One of these occurred in 1978 when Bob Smith
and Ray Stout formed Nandoor Corp. and purchased Jiffy’s
assets and use of the Jiffy name, and continued the door
business in Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties. In
1980, the company added wood windows to its product
offering. 1984 was significant as the decision was made to
expand the wood windows part of the business, with new
emphasis on sales and marketing.
Integral to the success of expanding
the wood windows product offering in’84 was the opening of
the company’s first branch showroom located in Miami-Dade.
It was also the beginning of a fitting new company name as
Joe Garcia joined the organization and Window Classics,
Inc. was formed.
Later came Palm Beach Window Classics
and Window Classics of Central Florida as management
expanded the company’s services to other areas of the
state. During this time, the company added several wood
window and door manufacturers to their roster.
In 1992, the various companies were
consolidated into Window Classics Corporation after
receiving the highly coveted exclusive distributorship for
Marvin Windows and Doors, a leading manufacturer. Window
Classics has since added branches in Tampa and Bonita
Springs to those in Miami, Hollywood, West Palm Beach,
Orlando, and Sarasota to become a premier resource for
wood windows throughout Florida, the Bahamas, the
Caribbean, Central America, and Venezuela.
Window Classics’ new headquarters,
showroom, and warehouse facility is located just west of
Interstate 95 within Seneca Industrial Park on Hallandale
Beach Boulevard in Pembroke Park. The modern center
provides ideal access to South Florida’s two major
airports, thus facilitating prompt service to the
company’s growing international client base.
